Author Notes
Ellen Kornmehl MD is a cancer physician retired from an academic career at the Harvard Medical School treating women’s and other cancers. She is a pediatric and adult cancer survivor herself. She writes about emerging science related to health with interest in food, nutrition, and the environment drawing on evidence-based science.
She graduated from Yale College and Yale School of Medicine before specialty training and joining the faculty at Harvard Medical School where she treated patients at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, the Dana Farber Cancer Center and Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Boston. She has worked in support of health and environmental advocacy beginning with the offices of Fred Krupp before his tenure at the Environmental Defense Fund, the Boston affiliates of the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship, Massachusetts Susan G. Komen, and The Silent Spring Institute.
